Over the past several years, a number of papers have been published on attrition in pediatric weight management, including our review. However, we still know very little about why families enroll in clinical programs in the first place.
Our latest paper, which is part of the Should I Stay or Should I Go? study and Arnaldo Perez’s PhD research, should help to address this knowledge gap. In this qualitative study, we explored parents’ reasons and facilitators of enrolling in health services for managing pediatric obesity…which also has a decidedly more upbeat, positive tone about it in contrast to most existing reports that focused on factors and reasons for dropping out.
Our paper was submitted recently to Child: Care, Health & Development, and I’m pleased to report that, after making some minor revisions, it was accepted! Will share the pdf when it goes to print, likely later in 2016. Congratulations, Arnaldo!
