When planning the Pediatric Centre for Weight and Health at the Stollery Children’s Hospital (SCH) began in 2004, we believed it was important for our clinic to make connections beyond the hospital. In large part, this clinic-to-community viewpoint was informed by the vision and experience of Dawn Wrightson (former Senior Operating Officer, SCH), and it’s why we always worked to maintain a PCWH Outreach Coordinator (OC) position as part of our clinic, even in times of financial pressure in the healthcare system.
The roles and responsibilities of our OC have evolved over the years, but we’ve always valued (and benefited from) having a team member who could link our clinical work with families, clinicians, and community members beyond our walls.
It’s my pleasure to announce that Jill Saunders recently accepted our OC position and will start with our team in early April. Over the years, Jill (a registered dietitian) has worked in a number of positions in both Alberta and Newfoundland & Labrador, in roles spanning clinical, community, and policy areas. Based on her experience and expertise, we know she’ll be an excellent addition to our group.
