¡Felicitaciones Arnaldo!

Over the past several years, Arnaldo Perez (Dept of Pediatrics, UAlberta) played a leadership role in our research to better understand issues related to families’ engagement in pediatric weight management, which included drawing on data collected from families enrolled in our Should I Stay or Should I Go study.

In doing so, he identified barriers and facilitators that families deal with in accessing health services. New interventions and quality improvement projects we have ongoing at the Pediatric Centre for Weight and Health (Stollery Children’s Hospital) and within the Edmonton Zone (Alberta Health Services) designed to make it easier for families to access weight management show how his research had a direct impact on our health care delivery. For any scientist in clinical and health services research, having your work inform improvements to the health care system is a wonderful accomplishment.

I’m very happy to share the news that Arnaldo successfully defended his PhD earlier this week. Way to go, Arnaldo!
