New Publication – What Makes it Easier or Harder for Teens to Have Healthy Lifestyles?

Teens tend to have a tougher time making and maintaining healthy lifestyle changes compared to children.

A number of factors influence teens’ ability to maintain healthy nutrition, activity, and sleep habits, which was the focus of a recently-published scoping review completed by Maryam Kebbe (PhD Student, Dept of Pediatrics, UAlberta).

While we’ve published a number of reviews on different topics over the years, this was one of the first to include a stakeholder consultation to complement the findings. Including the perspectives of both teens and health care professionals working in weight management added context to the information that Maryam collected and summarized in her review; completing this step was also consistent with the goal to lead patient-oriented research, which aspires to do research with individuals and families rather than on them.

Congratulations, Maryam!
